DTA 560 tn DTA Tandem Rotary Car Dumper Replacement Project

Here is the final movie “DTA Tandem Rotary Car Dumper Replacement Project” for the shoot we did over the summer in Newport News, VA. for www.dominionterminal.com.

It was for 16 weeks and with four camera’s on-site, we had a lot of footage to go through, but well worth it! We were on-site the day of moving the first dumper and lucky enough to get a camera mounted to the back of the truck for the close up move! After some testing of the dumpers, we went back at the end of the job to mount a camera for the end moving shot… its not everyday you get to clime on trains like that!

More from DTA:
After emptying nearly 300 million tons of coal out of hopper cars from mines in Virginia, West Virginia, and Kentucky, Dominion Terminal Associates, LLP needed to replace its rotary car dumper. With the design and fabrication of Metso Minerals from Pittsburgh, along with the construction expertise of M&R Constructors out of Richmond, 14 months of work was finalized with 12 weeks of on-site build and a 4 week equipment shutdown. Those final 16 weeks have been condensed with the help of www.RichmondTimeLapse.com

5th StreetBridge 5th Street Pedestrian Bridge Time Lapse (In Honor of Brenton S. Halsey)

On November 18, 2011 we were on site at Brown’s Island for the new 5th Street Pedestrian Bridge. We had three camera’s going while the big crane moved the bridge into place. It was a pretty amazing site to see and had many onlookers interested in the process! The bridge is prefabricated and composed of aluminum with Brazilian hardwood for the decking material. The bridge is approximately 155 feet in length and approximately 8’4″ inches in width, with a 3’6″ inch high railing. We were happy to shoot this movie for VentureRichmond.

The Virginia Beach Sportsplex, first opened in 1999, started as the home of the Virginia Beach Mariners soccer team, but will now also be home to the Virginia Destroyers. When constructed, the Sportsplex was the first American soccer-specific stadium, but has since been upgraded to accommodate many other sports. The grass field was replaced with NFL quality artificial turf in 2009. The improvement allowed for a wide range of sporting events including soccer, football, and lacrosse. More renovations are underway as the Sportsplex prepares to host UFL football. The stadium has more than 6,000 permanent seats, but the capacity will increase when approximately 8,000 temporary seats are added Plans also call for a new multi-media scoreboard.
