A time lapse shot for ConcreteVA.com.

Here is a quick view of the concrete pour for a sitting wall around a 125 year old tree. It took some detailed planning for the hole footings for the wall.

That was the key to this project, because you don’t pick where the holes go, the tree does. Finding those holes where we could keep the form work symmetrical around the tree was a bear.

We were unable to install a typical footing for this project because of the large tree roots. When we finally got around to pouring the wall we put sand at the bottom of the forms over the tree roots. This will give that beautiful old maple some time to grow before it will affect the wall.

While we were  filming a sand sculpture creation by Guinness World Record-holding and award-winning artist Ted Siebert of “The Sand Sculpture Company” in the Shark Space Exhibits at the “Science Museum of Virginia” we had hundred’s of still shots and here are a few of our favorites! As we filmed this transformation, we took stills for later use by the Sportsplex PR department. When the time came for the grand opening, they were able to give all of the media a DVD with the movie and stills.

Converting to a better playing surface makes the Sportsplex and all-day and all-year stadium and a truly multi-sport home.

Here are a few still shots from the dock installation at Rockett’s Landing. It was a cold few days but the sun was shinning and I was on the James River so it was not all bad!
