The Virginia Beach Sportsplex, first opened in 1999, started as the home of the Virginia Beach Mariners soccer team, but will now also be home to the Virginia Destroyers. When constructed, the Sportsplex was the first American soccer-specific stadium, but has since been upgraded to accommodate many other sports. The grass field was replaced with NFL quality artificial turf in 2009. The improvement allowed for a wide range of sporting events including soccer, football, and lacrosse. More renovations are underway as the Sportsplex prepares to host UFL football. The stadium has more than 6,000 permanent seats, but the capacity will increase when approximately 8,000 temporary seats are added Plans also call for a new multi-media scoreboard.

This was filmed during the spring and summer of 2011 in Ashland Va with two camera’s and lots of wind that you will see in the video.

After a fun year of shooting the Randolph-Macon College – Andrews Residence Hall, we are putting our final touches on the edits. This has been our longest time lapse to date being just over a year.
